Today, September 6th, KNTEC held a productive meeting with Lena Renner, Senior Analyst, and Dr. Susanne Frykman, Senior Research Officer of the Swedish Research Council (VR).
Heewoong Park, Director of KNTEC and Head of the NRF Sweden Office, shared the center’s major programs and activities for 2024, and exploring potential areas for collaboration with VR.

In particular, Park highlighted KNTEC’s key programs such as the LEDARE Workshop, Strategic Seminar for Research Collaborations, and Next Generation Leader Workshops. Both parties agreed to continue expanding opportunities for collaboration and researcher exchanges between Korean and Swedish. We took note that these initiatives could serve as a stepping stone for greater participation in the Horizon Europe program by researchers from both countries.

VR suggested that Korea would join the partnership program under the Horizon Europe platform.  Dr. Susanne Frykman proposed delivering a presentation on Sweden’s participation trends and the partnership program under Horizon Europe, further supporting potential collaboration.

As a follow-up to the staff workshop held in Sweden last November between the National Research Foundation of Korea and VR, we discussed the possibility of hosting a similar workshop in Korea. We also agreed to consider the inclusion of researchers in the event, aiming to make the workshop more productive and impactful.

Finally, we reached an agreement to have further discussion on the aforementioned issues and to consistently strengthen our partnership.
