Trump to Depart U.S. on Oct. 24, Arriving in ROK via Malaysia and Japan

The White House announced on Oct. 23 (local time) that the ROK-U.S. summit will be held in the Republic of Korea on Oct. 29 (Korean time).

White House spokesperson Caroline Leavitt revealed President Donald Trump’s Asia tour schedule during a regular briefing.

First, President Trump will depart Washington, D.C. on the night of Oct. 24, traveling through Malaysia and Japan before arriving in Busan, Republic of Korea, on Oct. 29 Korean time. Leavitt stated, “President Trump will move to Busan on Wednesday (Oct. 29) morning, hold bilateral talks with the president of the Republic of Korea, deliver a keynote speech at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO luncheon, and attend a working dinner with leaders on the same evening.”

This meeting will be the second summit between President Trump and President Lee Jae Myung since the latter’s inauguration. Discussions on ROK-U.S. trade and security are expected, and mentions of North Korea are also anticipated.

Leavitt further announced that President Trump will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Oct. 30. He is scheduled to depart for Washington, D.C. on the night of Oct. 30.
