Topic: AI4MI (AI-Transforming Pathways for Marine Innovation)

The 2nd KONNEKT e-Workshop on AI for Marine Intelligence (AI4MI), hosted by KNTEC, was held online on November 19, 2025.
The workshop brought together researchers and experts from Korea and the Nordic region to discuss how artificial intelligence can be applied to marine environments and to explore opportunities for future cooperation.

The program consisted of two themed sessions and featured eight invited speakers.
Korean presenters shared insights on marine digital transformation strategies, AI- and IoT-based intelligent operations, AI readiness for marine technology research, and the future of communication and convergence industries.
Nordic speakers presented their work on plankton image classification, autonomous ship navigation, engine diagnostics and performance evaluation, and the potential of foundation models in marine AI.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Dr. Changkyu Choi, Prof. Seok Chan Jeong, and Dr. Cheol Soo Park, Director of the KRISO Europe Center, whose support and contributions were instrumental in making this workshop possible.

The workshop reaffirmed the strategic value of Korea–Nordics cooperation in marine technology and emphasized the importance of building robust research networks that can lead to joint projects and long-term collaboration.
KNTEC will continue to support initiatives that connect researchers and promote deeper scientific and technological cooperation, particularly in the emerging field of AI-driven marine innovation.
