이 문서는 2024년 3월에 열린 NORDHORCS와 NordForsk 이사회 회의를 위해 작성된 논의문서로, 인공지능의 책임 있고 윤리적인 활용을 주제로 한 북유럽 공동 이니셔티브 논의를 시작하기 위한 출발점으로 활용되었다. NordForsk는 북유럽 협력의 강점을 바탕으로 연구와 혁신, 정책 논의를 아우르는 야심찬 다도구형 협력 이니셔티브의 가능성을 제시하고자 하였다. 회의에서는 이러한 제안이 북유럽 지역에 분명한 부가가치를 지닌다는 점에 공감대가 형성되었으며, 이에 따라 NORDHORCS는 NordForsk에 국가 연구비 지원기관들이 참여하는 ‘북유럽 인공지능 협력체(NAIC)’ 위원회 구성을 요청하였다. NAIC는 향후 연구·혁신 공모 개발과 연구비 지원 과정에서의 AI 활용에 관한 경험과 모범사례를 공유하는 협력 구조로 기능하게 된다.

This document was prepared as a discussion paper for the meeting of NORDHORCS and the NordForsk Board held in March 2024, and it served as a starting point for discussions on a joint Nordic initiative on the responsible and ethical use of artificial intelligence. Building on the strengths of Nordic cooperation, NordForsk sought to present the potential for an ambitious, multi-tool collaborative initiative encompassing research, innovation, and policy dialogue. During the meeting, there was a shared understanding that such an initiative would offer clear added value for the Nordic region, and accordingly NORDHORCS requested that NordForsk invite the national research funding organisations to nominate members to a committee for a Nordic Artificial Intelligence Collaboration (NAIC). NAIC is intended to function as a collaborative structure for developing research and innovation calls and for sharing experiences and best practices related to the use of AI in research funding processes.
