Topic: Our Future Through Science and Technology in the Era of Climate Change

The Korea-Nordics Science and Technology Cooperation Center (KNTEC), which is led by the Director Heewoong Park, successfully hosted the “1st KNTEC-KOSES Joint Conference” in collaboration with the Society of Korean Scientists and Engineers in Finland (KOSES) on November 16, 2024. This event aimed to strengthen connections and foster networking among Korean scientists and engineers active in Finland, while also enhancing the global presence of Korean researchers and promoting Korea-Nordics collaboration.

I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the President of KOSES, Dr. Myeong-Jo Son, for organizing such a well-structured and impactful conference. In particular, I am deeply thankful to Ambassador Kim Jung-ha of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Finland, who delivered warm congratulatory remarks to the participants.

The conference was centered around the theme “Our Future Through Science and Technology in the Era of Climate Change” and comprised three insightful sessions: Quantum Technology, Environment & Energy, and Industry & Supply Chain. The event featured nine esteemed speakers, who shared their expertise in their respective fields:
Quantum Technology Session: JaeWung Lee (VTT), Hanwool Lee (University of Jyväskylä), Seung-Goo Kim (IQM)
Environment & Energy Session: Taeseong Kim (DTU), Kevin Koosup Yum (HD Hyundai Europe R&D Center), Min-Kyu Paek (Aalto University)
Industry & Supply Chain Session: Seongtae Kim (Aalto University), Kwantae Kim (Aalto University), Suhyeon Lee (Tokamak Network).I extend my sincere thanks to all nine speakers for their invaluable contributions and insightful presentations.

Looking ahead, I am confident that KNTEC and KOSES will continue to strengthen their collaboration, further facilitating Korea-Nordics Science and Technology cooperation through initiatives such as this conference.
